Shoulder pads, Madonna and Spandex - that’s what we think of when we think of the 1980s. Now, with a separation of a couple of decades and wars, look around and what do you see? Reagan-era grand theatrics are back with a vengeance! But remember, whenever anything old becomes new again, it’s filtered through the prism of today’s fashion focus. Besides, thankfully, nothing can ever completely capture the glory days when Alexis ruled the airwaves (ABC soap, Dynasty) wearing Nolan Miller’s outlandish gowns. Today’s style mavens have reimagined the 1980s with subtle looks that are far more flattering then their predecessors.
That’s a good thing too, because the new reinvented Eighties styles retain what everyone loved about the decade in the first place - bright, unadulterated fun! It’s about color, bursts of day-glo tones that complement accessories like a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses - Risky Business style. Some classics never go out of style like an Lacoste Izod alligator shirt or Converse high-tops in cool colors. Now you can dress him up in your love wearing Miami Vice threads, Ralph Lauren’s signature Polo and a vintage pair of Levi 501s to work that semi-hawk or mullet. Troll eBay for tons of glam plastic spring bracelets in different colors. Check out Victoria’s Secret for slinky, sexy silk camisoles you can wear during the hot summer nights. You can even find lacy teddies to wear as outerwear just like a virgin.
Now that you’ve got the essentials for that retro look, you can focus on your face. Here just for you: the glam face of the Eighties, reignited with a classy contemporary touch so you can look fresh and gorgeous today. Start with a clear and clean foundation, just a tad lighter then you usually wear like Sisley Phyto Teint Eclat Fluid Foundation. The silicone in this formula ensures a light-textured base and allows quick application for a smooth, powdery, satin veil. Now use a concealer under your eyes to enhance the flawless perfection of your skin, stick with Sisley Botanical Phytocernes Eye Concealer.
Move on to your eyes - you’ve got beautiful eyes so DON’T be afraid to work them for maximum effect! Create drama by envisioning Monet’s Water Lilies - rich, lush vibrant color over and under the lids using Borghese Shadow Milano Trio 95 Violetta Venezia. Lightly cover the lid in the medium plum, enhance the corners with the dark violet and then brush on the pale ivory over the center where the lid falls over the eyeball. Now bring out the color of your eyes with a stroke, just a touch of something sensational and bright like Borghese Eye Accento Pencil in striking lime.
Now, you should begin to see a huge difference so you can apply a coating of Sisley Phyto Mascara Ultra Volume for ultimate volume and separation. Balance out your eyes with equally luxurious cheekbone contours which you can achieve using a blush with a fuchsia undertone, like Borghese Blush Milano. It’s all about porcelain perfection so dust off your pretty face with Borghese Cura Naturale Dual Effetto Powder Makeup SPF 8 and you’re almost done! Finish with a shade of lipstick that’s deep and sultry enough to set off sparks like the kissable new Flamingo Gold Borghese Lip Treatment Moisturizer.
That’s it - you’re face is your fortune so don’t shy away from color this summer! At Venue, We got the beat to keep you rockin’ with the best looks in town! BTW, Billie Jean is not my lover, she’s just a girl who thinks that I am the one…

Hey, my lucky star, wake me up before you go go out on the town in grody fashions! Do you really want to hurt me?? We’ll totally do ’80s makeovers time after time. They spin me right round, baby!

Ahh yes–the immaterial 80’s. Are we not (devolving) men–we are Devo, D.E.V.O. A spot on cultural criticism of the era.

It took us a decade to get over the decadence of designer fashion, music, drugs…I am glad that the “me” generation is over! Now is the time for all of US. I never knew of so much fakery/knockoff nonsense in my life. I trust the land of plenty has seen the errors of it’s policies and is on the road to correction - still I cringe when I see stripes and polka dots in the same print!

Loved the Ray bans…and my pink high top converse sneakers…my asymetrical haircut…and dancing the night away to Madame Butterfly. I was a slave to fashion back in the 80’s…I think I’m going to go out and buy a pair of converse sneakers right now!

Well I was born in 1973 so I can’t say that I totally relate to the 80’s. My older syblings were born in the 60’s so yes I remember their obsession with Madonna, Spandex, Disco etc. You can’t dress me up in your love Madonna but you can help me with a flashback to a time when life was cool. The 80’s.
